A funny thing about Base 64

The alert among you will have noticed I've had an online base64 decoder on this site for absolute yonks.  It was one of the first things I did for the site, and the reasons are a bit obscure.

Nonetheless, it's proved to be a bit popular with the folks of the interweb.  In fact, my stats tell me that the base64 encoder and decoder are far and away the most popular pages on this site.  (I could take that as a slur on these musings, but I choose not to do so.)

Now these are not complicated pages.  Especially in .NET, base 64 encoding and decoding is a straightforward task.  I even wrote a .NET encoder and decoder that didn't use the class libraries and I don't remember it being tricky, but that could just be my mind trying to hide the full horror of the task.

So, getting to the point of this post, I've put adverts up on those pages.  They've been up for a few days now and, well, I'm not retiring anytime soon but if I give it a couple of centuries I'll be able to treat myself to a beer or two.

If adverts there offend your sensibilities, well, don't go to those pages.  If you do happen by those pages, let me know what you think.

HTML-encoding/decoding and URL-encoding/decoding
Following on from the surprisingly-successful-yet-trivial-to-write Base64 encoder and decoder that I've mentioned in the past, I've been wondering what other bits I could put online to make some money.   So, in a similar vein to base 64, I've wr...
