‘HowTo For Social Change’
While this looks to be a Young Adult novel dealing with growing up in the near future, that’s a thin veneer on top of what’s really a guide on how bad laws are created in this country and what committed individuals can do to change things.
It does a good job at explaining how vested interests interfere, and why such vested interests are often against the interests of the people at large. It’s even better at showing how the laws in the grand scale of things affect individuals at the small scale.
Sometimes it does seem a bit preachy though. Sometimes it feels like he’s telling the reader how to behave and, while I think he’s right in the behaviour he’s encouraging, it can feel a bit heavy-handed.
But even so I think things would be better for us all if more people read this book.
